So, it used to be called 'experimental tuesday', the day in the week when I would experiment in the kitchen, throwing a bit of this and a bit of that into the mix and creating culinary delights for our willing 'test subjects' The Missionaries! (I actually cook like that usually but I thought I'd make it a bit of a weekly feature! Missionary Night = Experiment Night) And if the experiment turns out good, well then I'll keep making it and 'wow' my mother and mother-in-law with my serious skills in the kitchen if it turns out bad... well, we just hope that the blessing on the food is sufficent to keep us all alive!
As it happens, we've been super busy lately and have had to change it to experimental monday, which is where we find ourselves now...
Tonight's special was Spanish Chicken with Garlic Roasted Potatoes and CousCous (A grand total of £6.49... that's for all six of us + two boxes of apple juice!! I {heart} aldi!!)
And if THAT wasn't fun enough, I decided to introduce a 'rating system' where my little 'guinea-pigs' could let me know how well I was doing (I promised not to hurt them if they gave me a low score... though I doubt any of them believed me!!)
left to right: Shaun, Chantelle, GORGEOUS HUSBAND!!, Elder Fife, Elder Blanchard
And here are my scores... on green pigs!
Just in case you can't see them, my scores were:
- a 10 from Shaun (he likes olives!)
- a 9 from Chantelle
- an 8 from Dominic (he's the Simon Cowell of the judges!!)
- a 9.5 from Elder Fife (that's because I'm taller than him and I think he's scared of me)
- a 9 from Elder Blanchard
Hurrah! Looks like I did pretty good! Dominic informs me that's an average score of 9.1, why that's almost perfection!
So, no one complained, we didn't die... I think I'll be making this one again sometime, I should probably go write it down...
